Julian Edelman: Totally Fucked?

NEVER READ THE COMMENTS SECTION. I fail to abide by this rule, pretty much daily.

In the case of this non-news where a reportedly single football star (Julian Edelman) who may or may not be romantically involved with a model (Olivia Frischer, though they are not married) seen in a post-sex selfie, sleeping, with Boston-area girl Sabrina Dudish bragging about it via her Tinder profile icebreaker:

The internet went all mean and all-out on her, calling her the nastiest things, ''whore'' and ''slut'' among the most common - and nicest. One Massachussets bar owner banned her from his establishments - noting he had never done so about anyone else before. That's right: murderers and rapists, politicians, crooked cops, terrorists, kidnappers and wife beaters (three of those may apply to NFL players) are fine, but not Sabrina Dudish. Also, that misogynistic asshole (Michael Winter) went as far as to rate her a ''5'', I guess because if she'd have been a ''10'' it wouldn't have been the same? I'm fairly certain a lot of his bars are full of ''8s'' going to hotel rooms with married athletes (and married men in general), but somehow he's totally cool with that. Unless I'm missing the story about his bars being ''No Hookup'' establishments...

Again: a single woman bragging about fucking a single man, not destroying his family or public life. This is called slut-shaming, though we really need a better term, because nothing here actually proves her to be a slut. She's had to shut down most of her social media accounts because of the backlash, but forgot about her MySpace, so there are pictures of her looking a little too young making the rounds that some folks are searching for and staring at...

Guys are rarely judged by the amount of women they bang, unless it's negatively for not having had enough (''Oh, just 10? Sorry.''), but girls have to be virgin prudes, right? Then who would the guys be fucking?

My only interrogation with this is that she used it on her Tinder profile, meaning she's using it to lure men into contacting her to meet up. As a musician and former athlete, I understand there's an aura around going after men who've had many conquests, and there are plenty of Psychology 101 reasons for that, but I'm not certain it goes both ways: I fail to see how this one woman thinks sleeping with a man who has slept with hundreds of women makes her look attractive. But I guess that's the feminist in me, where I'm not slut-shaming her, but him instead. (I guess that's Psychology 102).

I guess that's the day and age we're in, though, right? Instant celebrity and a global network that renders your most stupid decision of the day a permanent fixture on the interwebs, for generations to marvel at. Like all those idiots from Florida. Paris Hilton showed the world (well, North America, anyway) that a complete dunce could market herself by just exposing herself to the masses, and they'll not only follow but want to join in. We're way past the Decline of Western Civilization, we're going for rock bottom.

Misadventures On MySpace

I tried going on MySpace about a month ago and couldn't get into my artist/band profile for lack of remembering my password, and while the same could be true about my ''personal'' page - which I hadn't used since 2006 - I could log onto that one via Facebook... oh irony! It felt like asking O.J. Simpson for directions to his wife's lot at the cemetery...

In any event, I found the site's look too busy, too disturbing, and just didn't bother with going to my own page, on which I'm connected to roughly 1000 folks - my band page had over 25,000, and my regular Facebook profile has the maximum of 5,000 most of the time anyway, and all of my MySpace friends are on it.

But one person persisted and spent time on MySpace, and came away with her experience with this hilarious blog post. It almost got me to go back (despite the seemingly horrible experience) to check it out and live through the same frustrations, but I found my time to be better spent doing... anything else.

News From Tila Tequila

Remember Tila Tequila?

The former MySpace click champion (and subsequently Reality TV ''star'') has taken to blogging, and has clearly lost her mind:
I DECLARE A WAR BUT NO SOLDIERS, JUST ME, THE PEOPLE, AND ALL OF YOU SO CALLED ILLUMINATI, ELITIST COWARDS! I HAVE ALL YOUR SECRETS, I AM MUCH WISER THAN I WAS BACK THEN WHEN YOU F-CKED ME OVER SO BAD I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO JUST DIE FROM ALL THE PAIN YOU ORCHESTRATED AND INFLICTED UPON MY SOUL! MY TILA ARMY AND THE WORLD AT LARGE HAS YOU WAAAAAAAAY OUT NUMBERED!!
SHOULD I TELL THEM ABOUT THE SUPER HUMANS THAT EXIST AND ALL OF THOSE EXPERIMENTS YOU DO ON THEM TO USE THEIR POWERS FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT?  SHOULD I TELL THEM THAT IS WHY SO MANY “MISSING CHILDREN” POP UP EACH YEAR BECAUSE YOU SADISTIC F-CKS WERE THE ONES BEHIND IT??! AGAIN, THERE ARE STILL PLENTY OF US OUT HERE WITH SUPER POWERS AND I WILL GATHER THEM ALL TOGETHER AND YOU EVIL PRICKS ARE ALL GOING DOWN!!!
SO WHAT IF YOU ARE ALIEN HYBRID? THAT DOESN’T MEAN YOU OWN US!
SHALL I TELL THE PEOPLE ABOUT THE ENTIRE CITY INSIDE THE HOLLOW EARTH??? SHALL I TELL THE PEOPLE THAT YOU CAME HERE AND LEFT YOUR OWN PLANET TO INFILTRATE OURS AND NOW SOME OF YOU STILL CURRENTLY RESIDE ON THE MOON!
And if you thought that was bad:
(...) Aside from that, I was also indeed “JOAN OF ARC” in another one of my past lives!!!!!  It makes so much sense now!  I mean, Joan of Arc and myself share incredibly similar things!
Uh, yeah. Please... go on...
Everything I talk about now, it is only and always in the 5th dimension frequency!  For instance I cannot relate to anything here on Earth anymore.  Everything I speak of is always in a very spiritual manner and My “HUMAN 3rd dimension body” is CONSTANTLY disappearing and reappearing all the time now!
I WILL be disappearing soon in the new Kingdom of God in the 5th Dimension back to my true light soul once again, and I shall be disappearing VERY SOON!  The only reason why I am still here, when indeed I have already given my certificate to Enter the new Kingdom of God, but I choose to stay here just for a little longer because it would hurt me deeply (just because I have been granted access to the 5th Dimension and given my “GALACTIC CARD” to travel to all 12 dimensions) doesn’t mean I can just leave you guys here and forget about you!  I told you this once before and I shall say it again, “I HAVE NEVER LEFT YOU NOR WILL I EVER LEAVE YOU!”
That's the stuff!

Some other titles of her recent posts include ''The Government Are Cloning Humans and Themselves! ZOMBIES ARE REAL!'', which includes the amazing quote:
The human race is possessed by demons. (...) These beings are mentally sick, upside down and follow a perverse goal of death instead of life.
George W. Bush died in 1987 and was carried on through secret laboratories (Area 51 etc.) as a zombie henceforth.
Well, it takes one to know one. Not the zombie thing, the mentally sick part.

Loaded: A Tribute To The Velvet Underground

Unlike the Seattle band of the same name fronted by former GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan, Montréal's LOADED is a limited-edition-in-its-life-expectancy band created for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity not to be missed: a show called "Waiting For The Man- A Tribute To THE VELVET UNDERGROUND", to coincide with LOU REED's presence at the Jazz Festival.

Some of the City's most storied musicians will partake in this spectacle of delights, which will involve simultaneous video projection work by Zuzu Knew, who will also be playing viola in the band. Drummer extraordinaire Jackie Gallant (LaLaLa Human Steps, Lesbians On Ecstasy, American Devices, Rhythm Method) will beat the skins; Dave Lines (A Devil's Din) will shine on keys, John Stuart/Triangles Falling (the Mile-End Mission Tribute Benefit series, Papercrows, FingerDog) will man the bass with a style unequaled; genius and virtuoso Jordi Rosen (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Rufus Wainwright) will work the accordion who will be begging for more; Ingrid Wissink (Gigi French) will expertly take the lead with her violin; and Richard Rigby (Lake Of Stew) will manhandle the mandolin with man-love and affection, while Allan Lento (Chinese Backwards, skllffkk, Alien Lentil) and Will Austin (Normal Humans, There Is Still Time... Brother, skllffkk) will complement and compliment one another on their respective guitars bringing a unity of sound probably superior even to the Velvet's own early-90s reunion shows.

Joining them on vocals will be Patrick Hutchinson (Swift Years, Bare Bones) and myself, Sébastian Hell (the UnPop Montréal annual festival series, Unknown People, The Inferno Racket, Lame De Fer), the City's lone constant Lou Reed rip-off-er - as well as Lines, Lento, Austin, and Rosen each taking turns behind the microphone to help bring these tunes to life.

With such a display of talent, I'm sure you'd expect the show to be a costly affair at Place-Des-Arts, and while we will be playing like as if it were, it will instead take place at St-Denis street's beautifully intimate venue L'ABSYNTHE (1738 St-Denis), near the corner of Ontario street, close to Berri metro. Five bucks gets you in, drugs not included.

It's on June 25th, which isn't a Holiday, but we'll make it so just for you. Be there or beware.

Video Of The Week: Ceephax Acid Crew

Because some times you just have to admit that you know nothing about the youths of today, don' t understand the way they dress, the music they listen to, but you can't help but blame them for the type of world we live in and the leaders we have to pretend to care about the rest of us.

I'm not sure if the kids today listen to this ironically or not, or what. But it is what it is, and while I have to rent venues in my home town to play music in and hope for the best, guys like these get invited here, play for guaranteed money and get free room, board and meals.

Whatever, man. It's Ceephax Acid Crew, led by, obviously, Ceephax, whose real name is Andy Jenkinson, according to his Myspace page. The song is called Sidney's Sizzler, and the full YouTube clip, should it be cut on my page because of formatting issues, can be found here.

Enjoy. If you can.

New Demo From Tasha Cyr

Good news on the Tasha Cyr front: she posted a new demo on her MySpace page this week. Sounds good.

She is currently in the studio with producer Erik Virtanen, her bandmate in The Darling DeMaes and in life.

You'll recall we shared a stage in February, at this show:
